What makes an SEO campaign successful? Although many have said that off-page SEO techniques are what makes an SEO campaign successful, such as the use of current link building techniques, experts have agreed that on-page factors could still affect the success of SEO, particularly now that HTML5 has now been introduced as a standard by the W3C.

On-Page Optimization Before HTML5
Before HTML5 was introduced and standardized, common on-page optimization would normally involve the use of different popular HTML tags such as Title tags, Keyword tags, Description tags, Alt tags, as well as filename optimization, URL optimization, content, as well as image optimization.

According to a number of SEO Philippines experts, these tags were used to contain a number of keywords which will be used to increase the website’s relevance in a specific search query.

However, when HTML5 was introduced, an uproar was heard from the SEO market due to the fear that the use standard will render their traditional on-page optimization useless and ineffective. This fear, however, changed when HTML5 introduced a number of new markups which did more good than bad in SEO.

Effects of HTML5 in SEO
According to web experts, such as those from different web design Manila companies, HTML5 had introduced a number of new markups including section, article, footer, header, and nav.

Though these tags have significantly altered the traditional practice of on-page SEO optimization, utilizing these could improve the way search engines crawl a webpage, such as with the article tag. Because it reduces the need for div, webmasters would be able to tag a blogpost or an article as a separate section in a webpage.

Other tags such as the footer, header, nav, and sections, can also be used to contain a number of keywords which will likely increase the success of websites in search engines.

Through sectioning, such as what was done with the article tag, search engines spiders could easily crawl a website and search for keywords related to a specific search query.

Because of these changes, on-page optimization had become even more important in many SEO campaigns. However, it did affect how on-page SEO is done, which is why SEO specialists will have to change their traditional practice to accommodate this major change.
